Stare Powązki Foundation Podcast

Here you will find the latest episodes of the Podcast

Old Powązki is a necropolis with a history spanning more than 230 years. Over the course of more than two centuries, around one million people have been buried at Powązki Cemetery. Who were they? Do we know their names today? …

The mission of the Old Powązki Foundation is to preserve historical and cultural heritage.

Our podcast tells the stories of people whose graves are at Old Powązki. They include artists, writers, merchants, bankers, entrepreneurs, scientists, inventors, musicians, poets, clergy, craftspeople, actors, architects, military personnel, insurrectionists, aviators, workers, journalists, painters, factory owners, and many, many ordinary residents of Warsaw.

In our podcasts, we draw on historical sources, memoirs, letters, family recollections, and the press. We describe the facts, while also sketching a portrait of the era in which our subject lived.

Each podcast episode is our artistic interpretation and story of one person—their dreams, fears, and struggles with reality. In upcoming episodes, we will dispel false myths and legends, bring forgotten names back to light, and reveal both heroic deeds and shameful actions.
